Quote back:
'Teaching machines' and 'programmed learning' are phrases which are only now beginning to penetrate the consciousness of the man in the street. Even for students of psychology there are few simple descriptions of the theories that lie behind these modern applications soon to become part of our daily lives.
The present work by an American psychologist provides an elementary but fairly solid account of these theories. It deals with the learning process, largely in the classroom or the laboratory, and then proceeds to the various theorists from Watson to the comtemporaries such as Skinner, Gagne, Underwood and others.
