Active during 2002-2005, LP Reproduction was a reissue series devoted to jazz albums from labels under The Verve Music Group and Universal Music Group umbrellas. All titles, some never before on CD, were remastered using 96 kHz, 24-bit digital transfer and then packaged in miniature reproductions of the original album artwork, including liner notes, photography and gatefold sleeves. All titles were "available for a limited time".
The series - often shortened 'LPR' - had the peculiarity of being "not invasive" (i.e. all the releases were totally faithful to the originals and did not carry the LPR name or logo) and all of the info regarding the reissue are to be found only in the gold&black OBI (for first batches in miniLP format) or in the backtray (for later batches in digipak).
Mastering credit usually goes to Bob Irwin at Sundazed Studios.
The first five waves of reissues were released in the miniLP format on both shores of the ocean, then in Europe switched to digipak. Finally, all titles from last batch of 2005 in Europe switched to jewel cases and turned into the Verve Originals series while in the US were still issued as digipak under the LPR series.
