The watch features a 50 mm wide case made of glass fiber reinforced polyamide, complemented by a Ti5 titanium bezel. The Suunto 9 Charcoal Titanium model comes with a stylish black nylon strap. Additionally, durable sapphire crystal ensures that scratches won't mar the watch's sleek appearance even after heavy use. Please note that this model features wrist heart rate measurement that functions without a separate heart rate belt.
Suunto 9 watches will receive a phased update starting March 30, 2021. This update adds new features, performance improvements, and some bug fixes. New features include a 'Tour' battery mode with up to 7 days of continuous GPS tracking, extensive Komoot region packs offering turn-by-turn navigation and offline functionality, the ability to save and navigate to important Points of Interest, and the Red Bull X-Alps feature from SuuntoPlus, which monitors vertical speed for paragliders.

The Suunto 9 Charcoal Titanium's battery lasts up to 120 hours in GPS mode, thanks to an intelligent battery management system that keeps the user aware of battery status and reminds them to adjust settings if needed to ensure battery life.
The device offers three different battery modes: Performance, Endurance, and Ultra. In Performance mode, GPS updates are most frequent, providing a maximum battery life of 25 hours in GPS mode. Ultra mode can achieve up to 120 hours of battery life in GPS mode. The watch indicates the expected battery life at the start of recording, which the user can then manage by switching between modes during use. In time-only mode, the battery life is 14 days, and with 24/7 tracking and mobile notifications, it is 7 days.
