FOREWORD
This is not a text-book for beginners not an ABC. It does not deal with every aspect of love life, nor all about love from A to Z. We have merely described, in lexical form, a few aspects of sexual relationships seen from a slightly different standpoint.
Our book is meant as a personal and subjective supplement to the many outstanding scientific books on sexual enlightenment already in existence. If anybody were to read this book only, he or she would obtain a confusing impression of love between human beings. But all who are capable of reading at all already possess certain know- ledge; we have, moreover, addressed ourselves in particular to people with some ex- perience.
Naturally, we possess no infallible recipe for human happiness. We still know far too little about sexual relations, and so we are by no means able to provide a complete prescription for a happy sex life. But we do believe we have a few of the ingredients: some of them well-known, others perhaps less so.
We have tried to be straightforward and frank. This will possibly shock and offend some people. Our objective has primarily been to write a book for couples in their thirties or forties and thus also indirectly-through educationalists and parents-for the young and those who have embarked upon, or who are about to embark upon, a relationship which by rights should provide the greatest human rewards for both partners; a relationship which furthermore should preferably last as long as possible.
Laymen as well as professional people have displayed a friendly and positive interest in the preparation of the MS., and we thank them all accordingly. But as the responsibility for the book is ours alone, we feel it would be wrong to abuse anybody's authority by quoting names.
