Fully illustrated analysis of all World War II aircraft in British military service, including full descriptions and specifications, hundreds of action photos and highly accurate, full-color artwork.
The full title is:
British Warplanes of World War Two: Combat Aircraft of the RAF and Fleet Air Arm 1939-1945
The photographs and superb colour illustrations show 124 different planes .
The book also includes all the American types that were used by the RAF- a variety from Curtiss, Douglas, Grumman, Lockheed, Martin and others, also of course not to forget the superb Anglo- American Mustang.
The book has 17 pages on the extremely complex Spitfire story and 8 on the Lancaster, for example. Production standards are very high- the illustrations a beautifully done and there are excellent photographs, mostly to a good scale in this large format book. A readable background description is provided for each 'type' and the often numerous variations of many of them are listed.
The book shows insignias and markings on the planes, which include models such as:
De Havilland, Avro, Hawker, Lockheed, Bristol and many more.
