2 kroner 1948 coin with lamination cracks
Varebeskrivelse
Stand: Brugt - med synlige brugsspor
Dear flaw coin collectors:
This is an aluminium bronze coin of Frederick IX from 1948, with a mintage of 857,381. KM# 838.1
On the obverse: There is a nice, distinctive lamination crack on the back of the head of the king, and smaller ones on his neck. There are also lamination cracks under the A of Denmark and going up, from the F of Frederick. The metal changes color, it becomes darker on three spots of this face of the coin. I don´t understand why. You are welcome to explain. Next to the forehead there seems to be another lamination crack that has accumulated dust, giving the portrait a more dramatic touch.
On the reverse: There are obvious lamination cracks under the 2 and on the K. Also, going down from the, into the crown. Some lamination cracks next to the brim, on the right side.
The coin is shiny and has relatively not many scratches. I would say it is in good condition.
I am curious. The lamination crack on the back of the head is so distinctive that some collectors may have already noticed. Do you have it in your collection? Shall we call this Frederick IX J head lamination crack 1948 or just crackhead?
